National Optical Astronomy Observatory
Teacher participants must:
- Have five or more years experience teaching high school science.
- Obtain a written letter of support from your school principal or administrator.
- Successfully complete an online course requiring 60-90 hours of total time over 12 weeks from mid-January to the end of April.
- Attend the in-residence institute in Tucson, Arizona during late June.
- Commit to implementing astronomy researched-based education in your classroom for at least two years.
- Be a resident of the United States or Puerto Rico.
Teachers participating will receive:
- Supporting material for the on-line course
- Up to $500 round trip airfare to Tucson, Arizona, a stipend of $75/day, room and partial board expenses during the ten day institute.
